I had this guy and his dog living in my basement for awhile. When he left I finally took back my basement. Now it’s full of fleas. Everytime I go down there I bring at least 10 up here on me. It’s BAD. How do I get rid of them? I don’t want to call anyone to fix the problem. And the product has to be safe with my kids. I can’t leave the house or a few days.

I had the same problem, I have 4 children and at the time 2 of them were pretty small, I used this stuff called Borax/Borox powerderd bleach, you spinkle it on your carpet, (i did it 3 times a day just because i can’t stand bugs!!) and vacuum, vacuum, vacuum, i vacuumed at leat5 times a day, for 2-3 weeks, and i got some ;avander oil and put it in the corners of your home, it takes a while but this will work. and the flea bombs, iwouldn’t waste the money (they DON’T WORK). and it”s good if you have children(the stuff is 20 Mule Borax.or you can do this, pour one quarter cup pine -sol into a sixteen ounce spry bottle, fill the rest with water, shake well and spray the soapy liquid on carpets and furnitureit kills fleas on the spot andgets rid of pet odars. let me know what you think

Bug Bombs. But you need to vacate the house for , I think, a day. Then you have to clean up all the surfaces. Major hassle, but the only way.
I was watching my brothers house and his cat brought in fleas. It was the only way.
Go to Home Depot and ask for an expert on them.
    Good luck.

If won’t completly get rid of them, but helps to catch them. Place a couple of nights lights near the carpet and a pan of dish soap under each light. The light will attract the fleas and they get caught in the soap. You will need to buy a product that also kills the eggs, because they will just keep coming. Not sure what to suggest. Fleas are nasty buggers and hard to get rid of. Good Luck!

you can buy a flea bomb and you dont have to leave for days. set it up and go shopping or something for a few hours.

Since I have young children also, I vacuumed 2 to 3 times a day and left the vacuum outside just in case the fleas could climb out. By vacuuming so often the fleas were gone in no time.

Try putting a flea collar into your vacuum (if you have a bagless vacuum) . If you capture any fleas, it’ll kill them before they can escape.
