i just rescued to kittens, im not sure how old they are, maybe about 6 weeks. I have them in my garage right now but it’s getting cold and I want to bring them in the house. They are covered in fleas and I don’t want them to get to my dog. Iwasn’t sure how to get rid of them, I read somewhere that shampoos can be toxic to kittens. How can I get rid of all the fleas?

How many fleas are we talking here? Is it something you can comb out with a fine tooth comb? (comb and put it in a bag and pop their heads to kill them).
You could try washing them with some soapy water but you might get very scratched up.

go buy Natural Chemistry De Flea Pet Shampoo….I used it on my 4week yr old kitten this is the only shampoo you can use on kittens and nursing mothers. I have used this on several baby kittens works great..make sure to avoid the eyes and the nose. This stuff kills on contact so scrub it in really good and get in between the toes.

YOU HAVE TO LITERALLY PICK THEM OFF IT IS VERY TIME CONSUMING IVE BEEN THERE YOU NEED TO HAVE A TWEEZERS TO PINCH THEM YOU COULD USE A LITTLE BIT OF FLEA STUFF ON THEM BUT A VERY TINY BIT FRONT LINE WORKS THE BEST DO NOT EVER USE ANY DOG FLEA TREATMENT ON THEM I DID AND I ALMOST KILLED THEM!!!!!!!!!!! YOU COULD TAKE THEM IN ONE AT A TIME AND CLEAN THEM AND MAYBE PUT THEM IN A KENNEL NOT NEAR CARPET SO YOU CAN KEEP AN EYE ON THEM TILL YOU ARE SURE THEY ARE GONE I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE I AM IN SHEBOYGAN COUNTY

If you are keeping the kittens they need to go to the vet and he can tell you their age and what flea treatment will be safe and effective for them.
You can comb fleas off. I heat water in the microwave to very hot, comb through the kitten and dunk any fleas I get in the hot water. This is very labor intensive as you have to keep at it. It is best to determine age with the vet as even shampooing in Dawn dishwater soap might not be too good because of possible chilling, etc. if they are very young.
I’m sure they need worming too and the vet can give you medication for that. Don’t use any over the counter stuff, sprays, shampoos, drops, or worming meds until you know their age and what they can handle.

“Dawn” dish liquid !!!!!! The vets even use this to bathe them in. The fleas just drop off when you use it. Just make sure when you give them a bath using this, that you dont get it in their eyes… and rinse, rinse, and rinse again !! Making sure that all the ‘dawn’ is out of their fur. Towel dry them, so they dont get too cold, and have a blanket or something for them to ‘snuggle’ into to keep warm afterwards.

take them to the vet. they might have something you can put on them. if your keeping them they will need to get shots any way.

Just to add something to the bath info. Have the water only a little warmer than body temp. A wash cloth under them can give them some thing to grab with their claws and reduce the damage to you. Have warm towels ready to receive them. Get a flea comb, it’s got very fine teeth to remove dead and stunned fleas. They are pretty easy to see when the kittens are wet.
