Use a fogger, or there are powders you can use for the carpets just sprinkle let stand for 24 hours then vacum. You have to eradicate the flea infestation before you can stop the attacks. Just remember these fleas have laid eggs in the carpets they are also in their yard so treat the interior as well as the exterior perimeter of the yard.
I use to have fleas and i used some stuff called sulfer,flease hate it.sprinkle some around house and in carpet let set awhile,or you can use a fogger .
